MainWP Common Terms

MainWP Dictionary has been made for better understanding of MainWP Documentation. Search the dictionary to find terms that you are not familiar with or you would like to understand better.
301 Redirect - A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect which passes between 90-99% of link juice (ranking power) to the redirected page. 301 refers to the HTTP status code for this type of redirect. In most instances, the 301 redirect is the best method for implementing redirects on a website.
API - (Application Programming Interface) a set of functions and procedures that allow the creation of applications which access the features or data of an operating system, application, or other services.
Article Spinning - Article spinning is a method of creating one or more unique copies of an original article.  The level of uniqueness depends on the type and amount of spinning you do. Typical uses for spun articles are:
  1. Submitting to various article directories
  2. Submitting to blog networks
  3. Creating unique content for a website/blog
In general, the main purpose of spinning articles is to gain backlinks.
Boilerplate - A boilerplate can be compared to a certain kind of template, which can be thought of as a fill-in-the-blanks boilerplate. Some typical boilerplates include mission statements, safety warnings, commonly used installation procedures, copyright statements, and responsibility disclaimers.
Child Site - is a WordPress site that is connected to a MainWP Dashboard site.
Dashboard Site - is a WordPress site that has the MainWP Dashboard plugin installed.
Extension API Key - is a private code that allows the MainWP Dashboard to verify that the extension license exists and it is active.
Key Ring - Key Rings are group of single keys. This comes pretty handy when a Plugin or a Theme has multiple settings/option forms. After you create a single keys for all forms, you can group them in a Key Ring and submit them to your child sites all at once.
MainWP Child - is a WordPress plugin that allows your MainWP Dashboard plugin to safely connect to your WordPress site.
MainWP Dashboard - is a WordPress plugin that allows you to control completely independent WordPress sites.
MainWP Extension - is a WordPress plugin that extends functionality of the MainWP plugin.
MainWP Key Maker - MainWP Key Maker is a custom made WordPress plugin and you can download it from the
MainWP Key Maker
Open-Source - denoting software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified.
Self-hosted - is the act of having your MainWP Dashboard totally under your control. This can include you managing all whole aspects of it, from setting up the web server to installing the software.
Spintax - The term spintax is a contraction of “spinning syntax”. Spintax is the format (or syntax) that is used by various software spinners and article submission sites that create or use spun articles.
Token - In general, a token is an object that represents something else, such as another object (either physical or virtual), or an abstract concept as, for example, a gift is sometimes referred to as a token of the giver’s esteem for the recipient.
Unique Security ID - The Unique Security ID adds additional protection between the Child plugin and your Main Dashboard.
