GENERAL QUESTIONS

What Is WordPress?

WordPress is a free and open source Content Management System, or CMS for short. No, it is not just a Blog. It’s a simple, yet boundless powerful script that helps you create, manage, and share your content easily around the world.

Currently WordPress has two flavors, WordPress.com (hosted) and WordPress.org (self-hosted).  The MainWP Plugin and related Extensions are only supported on the self-hosted version.

What Is A Plugin/Extension?

A Plugin is a custom coded application which allows users and developers to extend WordPress abilities beyond the core installation.

MainWP Extensions offer custom functions and features  for the MainWP Dashboard.  These customizations can range from SEO (Search Engine Optimization) enhancers to content-displaying features, and so much more

How Do I Install My Plugin or Extension?

It’s really quite simple. First follow the methods outlined in the following FAQs.

How Do I Customize My MainWP Plugins/Extensions?

While direct customization of our core code is not recommended or supported.

Does your Plugin Work On WordPress.com?

No, the MainWP Plugin was created for self-hosted WordPress sites only.

How do you provide support

MainWP provides product related support via Support Tickets. We do not provide product support via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter nor do we offer phone support or live chat.

PRE-PURCHASE / ACCOUNT QUESTIONS

How Does Purchasing An Extension Work?

You can download Free Extensions individually.  Any premium Extension requires a MainWP Membership plan

I Haven’t Received My Receipt Or Login Details?

Usually the e-mail is sent the moment your payment is approved, and that should be almost immediately.  If you are purchasing an Extension your existing Member account will be used so that your products are linked.

If you don’t receive an email receipt or your login information soon after, please open a support ticket and we’ll check in on your payment and account.

I Can’t Login To My Account!

The account credentials are the ones you created when your setup your account.  If you have forgotten your password you can reset it directly on the login page. If you are having trouble logging into your account, please open a support ticket and we’ll sort it out ASAP.

I Can’t Find My Products, Help?

If you don’t see your purchased products once you have logged into your account and checked your My Downloads page, then please open a support ticket as there is most likely an issue with your account.

We’ll be glad to sort it out ASAP.

How Do Order A Extension With My Existing Account?

Just be sure that you are logged in on the correct account when you go to our checkout page.

If you aren’t logged in or on the wrong account you can login or switch accounts on the checkout page.

Which Payment Types Do You Accept?

We currently only accept PayPal and Stripe

I Can’t Checkout, Help!

Please open a support ticket and we will get it sorted ASAP.

How Do I Change My Billing Information?

Log in and click My Account then select the manage your shipping and billing addresses tab

Where Do I Download My Purchase(s)?

Once your order is complete, you should receive an email noting this. Your Extensions are available on your account page. Log in and click My Account then select the My Downloads tab.

INDIVIDUAL PLUGIN/EXTENSION QUESTIONS

How long will I receive updates and support?

If you are on a monthly or yearly MainWP membership you will receive updates and support for as long as you remain an active member.   If you are a Lifetime MainWP member you will receive updates and support for the life of the product.

Can I Upgrade My Support Package?

No, we treat all MainWP members with the same level of excellent support.

Do My Extensions Ever Expire?

If you are on either the Monthly or Yearly membership plans your ability to access Support and Updates will expire when you cancel that membership.  The Extension does not expire and will continue to work with the last version you had when you canceled your Membership.

If you are a Lifetime MainWP member then your access to Support and Updates does not expire.

Can I Test A Plugin/Extension Before Purchasing?

MainWP is available FREE and can be downloaded directly from WordPress.org.  The Extensions do not have a trial at this time.  Should you find that the Plugin/Extension doesn’t work the way you need, we can easily refund your purchase within 30-days, no questions asked.

LICENSING QUESTIONS

Do plugins and extensions have licenses?

All Extensions are licensed under the GPL code.   They can be used on unlimited sites.

The Support and Updates licenses are separate and are valid for the period of your MainWP membership; Monthly, Yearly or Lifetime.

Are the licenses valid for a lifetime?

The Support and Update licenses are valid for the period of your MainWP membership; Monthly, Yearly or Lifetime.

What happens when my license expires?

If you are on the Monthly or Yearly MainWP membership plans your licenses will automatically re-new with each payment.  The Lifetime membership does not expire.

How much does it cost to renew my license?

If you cancel and wish to re-new you will need to re-new at the current price.  That means if you cancel and the price is raised when you re-sign up you will need to pay the higher price.

How Does License Activation Work?

To activate your MainWP license you will need to enter your login credentials in the Main Plugin to activate and receive updates.  Extensions are set to auto-authorize based on the Activated Extensions in your account. You have the option to activate/deactivate this license key as many times as necessary.

MAINWP PLUGIN AND EXTENSIONS

Is Buying an Extension a one-time charge?

MainWP extensions can be purchased through one of the Membership Plans.

Monthly and Yearly Membership plans require requiring payments and the Lifetime plan is a one-time payment.

Can MainWP Handle Thousands of Sites?

You can manage an unlimited number of child sites but how many sites can be managed under one dashboard  is completely dependent on the quality of your hosting.  Please review the requirements page for more information.

GENERAL MAINWP QUESTIONS

Do Your Plugins/Extensions Work With The Latest Version WordPress?

Yes, it is our duty to always keep the Plugins/Extensions up-to-date and working with the latest version of WordPress. Currently, our Plugins/Extensions are developed and fine-tuned for the current version of WordPress, any version prior to that may have problems with some functionality.

If you find any issues after a WordPress update please Contact Support. We’ll get a fix ASAP.

What Browsers & Operating Systems Are Supported?

We test all our Plugins/Extensions on Internet Explorer 9, 10, and 11, the latest versions of FirefoxSafari. and Chrome. Regarding operating systems, our products are independent of the operating system you use and will work as long as WordPress is installed correctly.

We do not support Internet Explorer 6, and 7. If you use Internet Explorer 6, and 7, please consider upgrading to the latest Internet Explorer to have the best experience. Or switch to a different browser, the web will thank you!

How Often Are Plugins/Extensions Updated?

We update our products any time we discover a bug or there is a new feature that we feel should be added.

How Do I Update My Plugin/Extension?

Automatic updates are available for each Plugin/Extension.  The process is the same as updating any WordPress Plugin.  Navigate to your WP-Admin page where your MainWP Dashboard Plugin is installed, click Plugins, and Check for updates.  Updating Extensions works the same way.  Please review the FAQ here

Can I Use My Plugin/Extension On Multiple Child Sites?

Yes

Can I Use Your Plugin/Extensions For Client’s Sites?

You’re welcome to use our Plugins/Extensions in this way without violating our license.

Do Your Plugins/Extensions Work With WordPress Multisite (WPMS)?

We have reports from users that it works but we do not test on or support it.

What Hosts Do You Recommend?

MainWP is designed to work on most hosts that support WordPress and meet the minimum requirements.  We also have a host compatibility page here that you can check to see if your host has any known issues.

Will It Run On My Servers?

MainWP will work on both Windows and Linux servers as long as they meet the minimum requirements.

Do You Need My cPanel or FTP details?

That information is not required or asked for to run MainWP. However if you need to contact support they may ask you to provide that information for trouble shooting.

What Does Self-Hosted Mean?

Your main MainWP dashboard is hosted on your own WordPress install and not on our private servers. We do not keep records of your actions, sites or anything else.

Is It Secure?
