MainWP v5 By The Numbers

The release of MainWP Version 5 marks a significant milestone in our journey towards providing a more powerful, efficient, and user-friendly WordPress management experience. This update is the culmination of tireless effort, innovation, and feedback, reflected in some remarkable numbers that we’re proud to share with our community.

Over 1400 Working Hours: The dedication of our team is measured not just in days or weeks but in the over 1400 hours of work put into it. That’s just short of 2 months in real-time, but for us, it was stretched over months, starting with our first bit of version 5 code that was added back in 4.5.2 with Dashboard Insight logging.  That is not even taking into account all the time our Early Release users spent on testing!

Code Changes from 4 to 5 We made significant code changes from the last Version 4 update (4.6.0.1) to version 5. According to the GitHub Diff:

Dashboard Changes – 241 changed files with a staggering 62,269 additions and 2,794 deletions, showcasing the extensive enhancements and optimizations made to the MainWP Dashboard.

Child Changes – 40 changed files with 663 additions and 225 deletions, illustrating the focused improvements on child site management and efficiency.

Countless Internal Tests and Updates: I call this countless because I neglected to count the updates as they came in 🙄, sometimes multiple times daily. The extensive internal testing and updates embody our continuous drive toward the best Dashboard possible. Each test was a step towards eliminating bugs, improving performance, and enhancing the user experience, ensuring that the final product is as robust and reliable as possible.

238 Early Release Testers: I believe all that internal testing also made it easier for the Early Release testers to get into real user use cases without dealing with annoying bugs. The Early Release testers enabled us to refine and modify aspects of the Dashboard we hadn’t initially considered.

A heartfelt thank you to each of the 238 early-release testers who played a crucial role in shaping Version 5; your feedback, insights, and dedication have been invaluable in this development process, helping us refine and improve the update before its public release.

8 Early Release Versions Tested: Our testers didn’t just give Version 5 a once-over; they meticulously reviewed 8 early release versions. This iterative process allowed us to address user issues in real-time, ensuring that each version was better than the last.

2 New Modules Added: Version 5 introduces two groundbreaking modules – the Cost Tracker Module and the Dashboard Insights Module. These modules are designed to empower users with financial management capabilities and deeper insights into their WordPress management activities, enhancing both the functionality and usability of the MainWP Dashboard.

1 Extension Brought into the Core Dashboard: The API Backups extension, previously available as a Beta extension, has now been integrated directly into the core Dashboard. This transition underscores our commitment to providing comprehensive backup solutions as a standard feature, making it easier for users to secure their WordPress sites without the need for additional extensions.

1 New Pro Extension Released: The launch of the Time Tracker Pro Extension is a testament to our ongoing innovation. This new tool offers an integrated solution for tracking work hours and managing billing for client projects directly from the MainWP Dashboard, streamlining workflows and enhancing productivity.

MainWP Version 5 is more than just an update; it demonstrates our dedication to the MainWP community and the WordPress community as a whole and is a step forward in our mission to provide the best WordPress management experience possible. As we celebrate 10 years and version 5, we look forward to continuing our journey with you, our valued users, and the many more innovations ahead.
