WordPress 12 Days of Christmas

With Christmas only a few days away, now is the time to reflect on the many nuggets of joy that WordPress has sprinkled over our lives. As well as the frustrations and the many, many things that can break on clients site, as well as the things that WordPress core updates can break. On the 1st day of the Christmas, WordPress gave to me – A way to delete the Hello Dolly plugin on client sites, so clients did not activate it by mistake. On the 2nd day of Christmas, WordPress gave to me – Maybe a reason to update WordPress core

Delete expired transients automatically on all of your MainWP connected child sites

What are transients are and why WordPress uses them WordPress uses transients to store data, that can be retrieved short-term from the options database table. But the problem ends up being when different plugins are using transients, but then not deleting that data when it has expired. It can cause performance issues over-time and cause the options database table to group. So ideally you would want to delete expired transients on any of the MainWP Child Sites you manage to improve performance. Delete Expired Transients Log into your MainWP Dashboard site Go to the MainWP > Plugins > Install page Search for Delete

Why should you run your MainWP dashboard site on Vultr using Cloudways?

Cloudways is a solid option to use for WordPress site hosting. In this example, we are going to use it for hosting a MainWP dashboard site. You want to use a separate server for hosting your MainWP dashboard site, so that the server or servers you are using for your client/customer sites do not have to share resources. Go to login into Cloudways.   From Servers.   The cheapest-priced option is based on only 2GB of RAM.   If you feel like you will need more RAM and server space, then you can go up a plan.   Launch the

7 Questions to ask before starting a WordPress site care business

If you are looking for easy money, then hop on down to Easy Street, where you can hang out with Miss Hannigan, Rooster, and Lily (remember Annie?). It didn’t work out so well for them. You remember, they tried to scam Daddy Warbucks’s out of the reward by pretending to be Annie’s missing parents? Every business is hard. My friends who run the coffee shop work long hours, but they love their job. My office building neighbor runs a lawn care service, and he works hard as well. What is satisfying is the reward you get for building a business. A

How to manage WordPress security like a boss using the MainWP Dashboard

Security is pretty important. In fact, security is damn important. Hackings of your website can cost you valuable downtime, embarrassing visuals, get you in trouble with Google and cost you the chance to make money. Yet it happens every day. This is why it is necessary for someone running a business on their website to have security measure in place. Security measures come down to two basic things: Preventative, and the ability to restore. To restore, this means you have a backup system in place. Thankfully, with MainWP as your WordPress maintenance tool, you have easy access to options to

What you didn’t know about the MainWP WordPress Manager

What are some things you don’t know? Well, that is often hard to say, right? I mean, if we don’t know said fact, we don’t know that we don’t know. Still with me? There is a story going around on the interwebs that says Charlie Chaplin entered a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest. Funny thing, he came in third. Is this true? Not sure, but if it is, it just underscores the things we really don’t know. In 1943, Army Officer Louis “Louie” Zamperini survived for 47 days in a raft in the Pacific Ocean and subsequently survived several years in
