“Now, boys, to make a proper Irish coffee, the last step is crucial, so pay attention to this. You have to ladle the cream over the back of the spoon, so it doesn’t just plop in and muddy the coffee and the whiskey.”

With these words, Frank Reagan, the Irish Catholic New York Police Commissioner in the hit show Blue Bloods, shows his grandchildren how to make a good Irish Coffee.

The Irish are colorful, green it would seem. What a group of people!

We get all kinds of things from this saintly group of people including the aforementioned Irish Coffee, St. Patrick’s Day, Pubs, blessings, and great musicians like U2.

This edition of the WordPress roundup is all about the Irish as today is St. Patrick’s Day.

Additionally, MainWP just celebrated our 1,000 5 star review!

Irish Coffee

So, how does one make Irish Coffee? I have been asking, to no avail, my local coffee shops about making Irish Coffee. It was kind of like the time I asked them about making Bullet Proof Coffee (that’s for another post).

It seems you have to have whiskey to make Irish Coffee, and the town where I live is in a dry county, so, our coffee shops don’t have whiskey on hand.

Nevertheless, I found a few blog posts with a recipe and a general “how to.”

The really cool thing is that they are all WordPress websites as well as good food blogs.

ForkvsSpoon

ForkvsSpoon is a food blog run by a young lady named Mallory. Some of her pictures are fantastic showing mouth-watering treats.

She really steals the show with her Irish Coffee making post. She makes a cup that Frank Reagan would be proud of.

The Pioneer Woman

The Pioneer Woman is a professional food blog powered by WordPress VIP. A quick glance at the breakfast category and I had forgotten that I ate breakfast just a bit ago.

Ree, the post’s author, shows you how to make the “devilish” whipped cream for your Irish Coffee. One look at her finished product makes me want to make my own.

Keto Connect

Finally, if you want to make sure that your Irish Coffee is keto friendly, Keto Connect has you covered, complete with a video. It seems that Irish Coffee is already keto friendly, but it never hurts to make sure it is done right.

Irish Celebration

We probably should be more like the Irish when it comes to celebrating. The Irish know how to celebrate.

They dye entire rivers green for St. Patrick Day’s celebrations, they are the ones who establish pubs, apparently, Irish Whiskey is one the most popular spirits in the United States now, and there are lots of Irish events happening all across the globe for St. Patrick’s Day.

Have fun on St. Patrick’s Day; just don’t call it St. Patty’s.

Irish Blessings

Who doesn’t like a blessing? The Irish are known for their blessings. One of my favorite blessings is an old Irish Blessing.

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Even Murphy’s Law is attributed to an Irish Blessing:

Murphy’s Law:
Nothing is as easy as it looks.
Everything takes longer than you expect.
And if anything can go wrong,
It will at the worst possible moment.

Still looking

The Irish rock band U2 put out the song Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking for nearly 30 years ago. I am wondering now, if they are still looking or if they have already found what they are looking for.

The famous rock band is promoting a 30-year remix of The Joshua Tree

If you live in Ireland, you can find a WordPress Meetup in Dublin and Northern Ireland. They are trying to have WordCamps in those areas, so joining may help them make it happen.

In October of 2016, there was a WordCamp in Belfast.

Maybe you are the help organizers need to grow the WordPress community in those areas.

Wrapping it up

So, celebrate on St. Patrick’s Day. Don’t forget your green!

Maybe today is a good day to take some time and enjoy your successes, spend time with family and friends.

Are you going to take in a St. Patrick’s parade? Let us know where!
