Optimize Jetpack Boost Settings to Prevent Transient Buildup

Jetpack Boost is a WordPress plugin that helps improve your website’s speed and Core Web Vitals with minimal setup. It offers three key performance features: critical CSS generation for faster loading of above-the-fold content, deferred loading of non-essential JavaScript to reduce render blocking, and lazy image loading to minimize page load time. Designed for ease of use, Jetpack Boost enables one-click optimizations that are suitable for both beginners and advanced users. By streamlining how content loads, it enhances user experience and search engine performance.
If you are deep diving on site optimization of your site and are looking through the number of transients being stored in the site’s options database table, it is worth checking if using the Jetpack Boost plugin for how many of those transients are related to that plugin.
There are a number of transient management plugins, such as Transient Manager that can be used to review the transients currently being stored in a WordPress site’s database. After the Transient Manager plugin has been installed and activated, it will add a new menu item to;
Tools > Transients

The transients stored in the options database table would be named.
b_transient_concat_paths_0xxxxxxx
Disable the Concatenate JS and Concatenate CSS modules in the Jetpack Boost plugin settings. Then enable the concatenate JS module and recheck the transient levels the next day. If needed, delete and reinstall the Jetpack Boost plugin, and then recheck the current transient levels after reinstalling the plugin. Taking the time to keep transient levels low on your WordPress site will help improve database performance by keeping cruft out of the database.
