Tractor Supply’s $1.35 Million Privacy Settlement: What You Can Learn
Think you have nothing in common with a Tractor supply company? Think again!
The California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) recently announced a $1.35 million settlement with Tractor Supply Company after finding multiple violations of the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). It’s one of the largest enforcement actions we’ve seen so far, and it’s a reminder that privacy compliance isn’t just for the big tech companies anymore.
At the center of the case were several missteps, including missing disclosures in Tractor Supply’s Privacy Policy, failing to honor opt-out requests, and not having the proper agreements in place with third-party vendors. The result was a costly lesson in what happens when “we’ll get to it later” turns into a full-blown compliance problem.
Legal privacy expert Donata Stroink-Skillrud from Termageddon breaks down exactly what happened, why it matters, and what businesses of all sizes can learn from it. Her insights make it clear that proactive compliance is far easier and less expensive than reacting after the fact.
If your site collects data or uses tracking tools, this is one story you’ll want to read carefully. It’s a solid wake-up call for anyone managing client sites, plugins, or online stores.
Let’s Make the Next Surprise a Good One
Ever updated a product and thought, “Well, that’s not what I expected”? We’ve all been there. We created the MainWP Early Release Program to make sure the only surprises you get are the good kind.
By joining, you’ll get a sneak peek at upcoming features before they’re officially released, plus the chance to share your feedback and help shape what comes next. It’s your chance to see the latest improvements, and your input helps us make sure everything runs smoothly when the final version rolls out.
We’ve been developing version 5.5 as part of the Early Release, but with the number and significance of the changes, we’ve decided it deserves a full point update. The next official release will be version 6.0.
The current Early Release, v5.5-er3, includes some great updates: faster site management for large dashboards, a new default dark mode that’s easy on the eyes, smarter plugin and theme deletion (no more manual deactivation), and fully customizable site change tracking.
And that’s just the start. We’ve also improved the in-dashboard Support experience so help is right where you need it.
Get in early, try out what’s coming, and help us make MainWP 6.0 the best version yet.

Four New Knowledgebase Updates
This week, we have four new KB updates for you.
Starting off, we have a pretty significant update to our Google Analytics Extension Article. Among other things, several steps related to OAuth Consent screens have been removed since it is no longer necessary in order to configure the GA Extension, making the overall setup easier.
We’ve also added a short KB article that covers why some users cannot edit their email templates in their MainWP Dashboard.
Our FAQ has been updated to answer the question of whether or not MainWP has Visual Regression Testing.
And lastly, we’ve updated new information that covers the latest required PHP functions for the Pro Reports Extension.
This Week’s Quick Poll: How do you handle Work/Life during the holidays?
It’s pretty crazy that we’re talking holiday time already, but the calendar doesn’t lie.
This week, we want to know: How do you handle the Holiday Season?
Your responses help us in so many ways. Sometimes they help us to build our product, and sometimes they help us to get to know you better. Whether it’s community or product, it’s all MainWP.
The future awaits!
Survey Says!
We also thought you’d like to see the results of last week’s survey, where we asked
When you log into MainWP, what’s the first thing you usually do?
Not surprisingly, the majority of you log in to check for updates (81.3%). 12.5% stated that they log in to
review site health or uptime, and 6.3% run reports or backups.
Thank you, everyone, for the great response to this poll! We value your input in these polls every week as they help us shape our futures together.
