Current estimates place WordPress commercial ecosystem at generating $10 billion annually.
The Titan in the Room
If you’re going to talk about WordPress-based companies, then the titan is Automattic, which owns a number of companies like WordPress.com, Jetpack, WooCommerce, VaultPress, Akismet, Crowdsignal and Pressable.
Automattic is valued at over $1.6 billion. Automattic has a number of employees who work full time on the open-source project that is the self-hosted WordPress.org. Automattic has an estimated annual revenue of $60.6 million.
The Gorilla in the Room
Endurance International Group has been acquiring hosting and other companies for a number of years now, such as Bluehost, Constant Contact, HostGator, iPage, Site5, a Small Orange and Mojo Marketplace.
Endurance International Group has annual revenue of $6.6 billion.
The other WordPress hosting company
GoDaddy has been making a number of strides into WordPress companies recently like Sucuri, ManageWP, and WP Curve.
GoDaddy in 2017 was valued at $279 million. GoDaddy has $2.5 billion in annual revenue.

To be clear, WordPress.org is owned by the WordPress Foundation ( https://wordpressfoundation.org) , not by Automattic. The graphic suggests otherwise.

I agree that part should be clearer about WordPress.org, which is the self-hosted version of WordPress. The director of the WordPress Foundation is Matt Mullenweg, who is also the founder and CEO of Automattic.
