MainWP Branding Extension allows you to customize your WordPress (child) sites. With the Branding extension you can easily Change the Site Generator.
This option allows you to tweak the Generator meta tag on your child sites. If you check the <head></head> section in source code of your child sites, you will be able to see that WordPress is using this code:
<meta name="generator" content="WordPress 3.9">
If you want to hide the WordPress version you will need to hide this part of code. This feature of the Branding extension allows you to do this in one easy step. Just enter your custom generator content in the Generator Text field (for example “demotext”) and your custom generator url in the Generator Link field.
This process will tweak your meta tag to
<meta name="generator" content="demotext">
If you want to restore the original content here, just remove your custom text and link and update your settings.
