Does this sound familiar?
You have researched the idea and decided that you are ready for implementing some type of recurring revenue model.
I like that too.
You decided the quickest and most efficient way to get started is to launch a WordPress Care program.
After all, you have several dozen current clients, and they don’t update their websites.
Like, ever.
In fact, last year, you had to fix a website that wasn’t updated and got hacked.
So, you know WordPress Care is a good service to offer. You have researched what others charge, and you have decided on the services you will offer.
You even realize that the subscription you have of MainWP will let you do everything you need without any other additional costs. How cool is that?
Starting, however, is never been your strong suit.
How do you get started in this WordPress Care service? What things can you do to get the message out?
Well, we got you covered.
Today, we are going to mention five things you can do to tell the world you are offering WordPress Care services.
Get ready to roll!
When you are conversing with a friend or family member, you usually start with the most commonly used form of communication. For example, my best friends and I will text each other. Six years ago, I wouldn’t have believed that, but the world has changed and I guess I have too.
When you begin a conversation with your clients, where do you start? Conversations with clients hold a little more professionalism unless he or she are one of your closest friends.
Email is the preferred mode of new service announcements.
Thus, email announcement is a good idea.
Who should you email?
At the least, these four groups should be included: current clients, past clients you still have a relationship with, your email lists, and developer and designer colleagues.
Each group needs their own email.
It is ideal to start with current clients, and if they are on an email list, it is very easy to execute.
Look at each one as a campaign.
For current clients, you can send email sequences designed to nurture the announcement and get them to sign up. The same is true with other email lists that you have cultivated.
For former clients and colleagues, you will need to send them a personal email.
Writing a blog post announcing this service is an obvious step. You have a blog, your blog keeps up with company news, so, hop to it.
You can do the announcement in a couple of different ways.
First, you can do the announcement as a casual tone blog post complete with features of the service, tied to benefits, sharing your vision for the service and with a call to action.

Second, you can do your announcement in a more press release type of format. Either is fine, but I prefer the casual tone for your clients.
New product? New skill? New service?
These all equal a new page or, at the least, are worth adding to your services page. We have to update our website, right?
Hey look, I’m talking to myself right now. I need to update my website with some new offerings.
We are all using WordPress, right? Well, thankfully for us, we know how to use WordPress pretty easily.
Add the new page. Do it. Right now.
I would go a step further and add a landing page for folks to descend upon after reading why they should sign up.
Did somebody say landing page? I thought I heard that.
I get a little bit excited when I think about landing pages. Whether it is a webinar by the copy queen herself, Joanna Wiebe, tinkering with LeadPages are firing up Beaver Builder, I really love thinking about landing pages.
Landing pages allow us to have one purpose to connect with one call to action.
I think Viktor Nagornyy does a fantastic job with his landing page for Website Care services.
Seriously, go take a look.
There are more out there, and at some point, I’m sure we will take a look.
In a perfect world, we would add it, tell clients and others about or service and watch the orders come rolling in.
Only, we don’t live in a perfect world.
We have to incentivize the service.
How do we do that?
We incentivize the service by selling the benefits. Sure, we will mention the features because people still want to know those as well, but we have to connect it to a benefit.
Are you offering backup services?
Tell them they never have to worry about losing their information because you are always backing up their website. Pretty simple.
Are you monitoring the security of the website? Great! Let them know that you have their back, that you are monitoring their website and keeping the bad guys from trying to get in.
Use persuasion in your copy to sell. Or, maybe it is motivation.
Brian Clark talks about the power of motivation rather than using feeling.
I think we all feel this way. We want people to buy our product or service, but we don’t want to make them “feel” a certain way. You can persuade, motivate if you will, without disrupting people’s feeling.
There are several ways you can let everyone know of your new services. As with anything, you need to organize your ways into a plan and execute.
Documenting and monitoring make a difference.
Maybe, you can create a Trello board.
Are you selling a WordPress Care service?
How did you announce your new service?

Nice article and extra suggestions on the comments! WordPress care services are certainly in need especially by SMBs

Agreed, there is a big need for WordPress care services! Sometimes the comments provide the best info 🙂

Awesome suggestions! I’d love to throw Quora into the list too as an addition to the blog posts: find a few questions related to WP care, answer and link back to the post that details your services.

Hey Sophia, Quora is a good idea! Thanks for the comment!

One thing that I’ve seen work really well is to announce services in WordPress Meetup groups or advertise at some of the big WordCamps. This tactic, especially the first, would work better if the service has local appeal.

Fantastic idea! I can see how that would be a great idea.

My digital marketing agency tried offering a website maintenance service but after a few months we determined that we weren’t giving it the full attention that it needed. And I’d rather be building new sites than fixing things that break from updates.
Our solution was to find a dedicated site care company. There are many to choose from but we went with OnSiteWP. They are cool because they work with all hosting companies, do full site updates, backups, and have been easy to work with.

Thanks, Tom. Yeah, it’s probably not the best service for everyone. Like you, I am thankful for those who do it and do it well. I think it is a great idea to partner with them to assist your own clients.
Thanks for the comment!

I really like using Medium to announce something. Then asking friends (individually and personally) to share the post.

Very, very good point! I left it out. Medium is a fantastic place to share news.
Thanks Mary!
