WordPress Site Care Additional Services
Search Engine Optimization is a huge value-add if you can help your customers with some success. SEO has three main areas including Technical SEO, On-page SEO, and off-page SEO, technical SEO (according to Neil Patel). The technical SEO is an area you may be able to help your client.
Technical SEO includes things such as speed, meta tags, open graphs meta tags, mobile friendly, and your URL structures. As a developer, these and other pieces of on-site SEO are tactics you are already more adept in delivering.
As an aside, Local SEO is a critical part of locally based companies that you can also help with.
According to Neil Patel, regarding Technical SEO, “This aspect of SEO is focused on how well search engine spiders can crawl your site and index your content.”
SEO, particularly, SEO is no longer primarily about keywords.
For many specialists, Technical SEO is a part of On-site SEO. As a developer, you can help customers with On-site, Technical, and Local SEO problems.
Therefore, running a diagnostic and generating an SEO report is a great value-add. As such, for most of the issues, you and your team can implement the necessary changes.
There are a number of tools available to help you run SEO Audits. Below is a list of resources on how to execute an SEO Audit.

While you bend over backward for your clients, you may not want to spend the time to change content every time one of your customers need a change. You may offer that as a service, but if you don’t, it would eat up time for development work. Why not create a resource for WordPress training?
The resource could be an online course, a book, or a workshop. Use this to help your customers be expert WordPress users. This helps them feel comfortable using the platform you delivered for them and allows them to be empowered to update their website regularly.
If you don’t have the time to create a resource, there are several already created that you could whitelabel to use for your clients.
Lead Generation Delivery
It’s not uncommon for businesses to use lead magnets anymore. Most companies realize to build an email list, you need some kind of lead magnet to entice users to sign up.
The execution and delivery of the lead magnet are where our customers need our help. If they are using an ebook, a quiz, or some kind of worksheet as a downloadable, they need it to be delivered in a smooth experience for their users.
They also need for those lead magnets to be strategically placed on the website in the form of forms, landing pages, popups or some other kind of lead magnet setup. The lead magnet will need to be delivered and the email address sent to your client’s email marketing software.
This is where you come in. You can help them handle all of the technical aspects of connecting their email marketing account to your website, using an optin delivery plugin, and uploading the downloadable asset.
Many will take advantage of premium plugins to make all this happen such as Optin Monster, Thrive Leads, and Gravity Forms.
If your client is going to build an email list, he or she will need to have a lead generation mechanism in place. You can execute this for your client.
Email Marketing setup
If your client is going to use email marketing, he or she will need email marketing software. Sometimes these kinds of software can be difficult for them to set up.
This is where you can help. Setting up email marketing software is a good value add. It will allow them to add emails to their list and generate leads moving forward.
You can help them set up their first autoresponder series to welcome users to their list. Also, you can help integrate their email marketing software with their website. Partner with a copywriter who can write high converting emails and you just leveled up your client’s business.
In addition to keeping their site running like a rocket ship, you are helping them add emails to their email list and generate leads. That’s really good value if you ask me.
Many WordPress site care businesses offer support tasks as a part of their service. In fact, some companies offer a limited amount of requests in their site care plans. This means there are at least two ways to offer support requests.
First, simply include a few hours in your plan. You can, of course, include hours in your top tier plans and then upsell users on the smaller plans with hour requests. There is also the possibility of selling a block of hours each month or as needed.
Another option is to include the support requests outside the site care plans as a value add-on. Sell a block of time they can have used in a certain number of days. You could do a minimum such as five hours so that you don’t use resources on per hour requests.
As a WordPress site care business, your clients put their site in your hands, so being able to handle support requests is crucial to that relationship.
What would you offer in your support requests? For starters, it would be anything not covered by the plans you offer. You may offer theme support, plugin support, troubleshooting, development issues and even content updates.
The important thing is to have a ticketing system in place so that clients can make requests when needed and so that you can track requests.
A final thing you can consider as a premium product add-on your WordPress site care business is sending marketing reports.
The first and most obvious report is Google Analytics for their website. This can be complimentary for a minimum amount of data. I usually send a complimentary report of the most basic template each week for my clients.
However, you can add a more comprehensive dashboard report and up the value giving it a price tag.
But even more, combine that with data from other online platforms and you can automate a much more broad marketing report.
Include an email marketing report, social media reports, Google Analytics, content marketing, search engine marketing and anythign else you think is relevant.
Import the data into a third party reporting platform and churn out beautiful reports that tell your clients the story of all their efforts.
There are a number of third-party tools that will do this. I listed a few below.
