Here are a few summits and WordCamps to attend in the next few months

With the world still dealing with COVID issues, conferences and WordCamps are still going virtual. On the one hand, it allows everyone to attend something they may not have previously. On the other hand, we miss out on the opportunity to go to places like Bolivia, Japan, and Europe. Hopefully, we can begin attending in-person events by 2022. This week, I learned that one conference in the digital space is planning to return to an in-person meeting by November. This may be a good sign for the future. Regardless, we have several conferences and WordCamps coming in the next few

New to MainWP? Welcome to the family! We are happy you are here. Now, I know, I know, sometimes getting started with MainWP is like drinking from a firehose. There is so much to learn. Maybe you are tempted to put it off for a while because some other platforms are already set up, and you just start clicking buttons. Some have put it off and eventually came back to MainWP. Yeah, you will have to spend some time learning a bit and bridging the gap, but it is well worth your time. But, it’s not like you don’t have

The April Toolbox: We are talking 3D icons and Reddit.

In today’s edition of Toolbox, we will take a look at 3D icons, Reddit Mania, a backlink tool, and a freelance calculator. Additionally, we are going to talk about a little bit of Toolbox news. So sit back and enjoy. 3D icons that will pop 😉 Icons. There are tons of packages out there. Some are free; most are relatively inexpensive. An icon can really help you communicate your idea visually. I recently came across a set that caught my attention. The 3D icons are something I haven’t seen before. To be honest, I can’t tell if they are really

3 Big Ideas to guide your business and marketing

It seems that Wix has recently attempted to launch some kind of campaign. They sent Bose headphones to several WordPress influencers. They used it to give them a QR Code (who uses those anyway?) that takes these influencers (developers) to a video that talks about complaining or something. It was pretty bizarre. Who knows what Wix was trying to accomplish. They seemed to try their hand at influencer marketing with a twist, I guess. Mark that down as one I never heard. WordPress influencers seemed to think they were trying to trash WordPress, so the tactic didn’t land well.

WordPress Roundup: Blocks, retirement, newsletters and jukebox

What’s playing on your jukebox? Do you know what a jukebox is? Today a jukebox is Youtube, Spotify, or Apple Music. Currently, mine is playing Steve Earl, Copperhead Road. These days I’m paying a lot of Van Halen because I am fascinated by the Eddie Van Halen story. He was one of the best rock guitarists. He was innovative, as I learned during an interview he had in 2015. “Necessity is the mother of inventions.” That was certainly the case with Eddie Van Halen. In today’s WordPress roundup, we talk about a new jukebox in the WordPress world as well

Creating presentations can help your business and show your expertise

In the past few months, I have done some presentations. In the world of a Covid pandemic, they are all virtual, of course. To be fair, I have probably been far more comfortable on a computer screen than on a stage in front of people. Following this week’s presentation at the Atarim Web Agency Summit, I reflected on lessons I have learned from my presentations. Today we are doing to discuss creating and delivering a presentation and how to get started. Why do a presentation? Before we dive into getting started with a presentation, let’s address a pressing issue. Why

10 Tips to increase productivity from your home-based remote office

Recently, my friend Beth Lyles Livingston wrote an article about hygiene and its effect on productivity. I loved her article. I was inspired. So, I came up with ten tips of my own (one cross-over with Beth’s) that help with remote workers’ productivity. My tips are less about hygiene and more about various tasks. These 10 tips are true to my own experience and may also be for yours. 1.
