Q&A with WordPress expert Carrie Dils
One morning, when I lived in Fort Worth, TX, I was going to work. It was sometime in the late 2000s, maybe in 2008. I needed coffee. The powers to be had built a Starbucks on my way to work, so I swung by for a quick cup of joe. When I walked in, this young lady, one of the baristas, was singing. I called her the “Singing Barista.” She had a fun, energetic personality. A few years later, I Continue reading the post...
Jan Koch launches the WP Agency Summit to help agency owners scale their business
It’s that time of year. The time of year where we tend to lose focus, and we start to lose motivation to do work. For those of us in the United States, we are stuffed. We will now give ourselves permission to listen to Christmas music and think about the parties that come with the holidays. Before you give up all hope to work, don’t forget we still have a month left! And today, I am going to offer up Continue reading the post...
Thanksgiving: 7 WordPress entrepreneurs share what they are thankful for
It can be hard to be thankful when you are looking at other people. I mean, think about it. When you are looking at social media posts, and you see how people sell their success, it can cause you to feel left behind. Laura Belgray talks about this is the sentiment in an article at Business Insider. “It’s easy to feel behind when you scroll Instagram and see teenage influencers raking in billions from lip gloss, or overhear 20-something tech Continue reading the post...
Three principles to get started with content marketing for small businesses
I see it often on TV. Home improvement companies are advertising on local TV stations. I’m sure it is still effective because they keep doing it. Also, I see car dealerships advertise on TV. Their advertisements seem more like overdramatized hype. There is one used car dealer who comes up with some of the corniest stuff I’ve ever seen. At least he’s memorable. We all know that purchasing is changing rapidly, especially as millennials become a big part of the Continue reading the post...
Q&A with John Locke of Lockedown SEO
Like so many of us, John Locke did not begin his career in the website industry. He got his start working in a bakery where he was a manager. He breaks down the story on an episode of WP-Tonic in 2016. Later, John worked for a factory bakery. For years John has been taking care of clients in the Sacramento, California area where he has racked up some top recognitions, including being named one of the top web designers in Continue reading the post...

Today we take a look at the power of press releases and WordCamp US taking place this weekend in St. Louis. Writing a press release Justin Tadlock Continue reading the post...
Three essential tips to clarify your message so you can generate more leads & more business
Picture this. You arrive at a business expo with business cards in hand. You are ready to get some leads at your new business networking conference. You are convinced that these folks need your services. You have drunk a little liquid courage (hey, no judgment here), and you go into the sea of faces. You are squeamish just a bit because, after all, you are used to being in front of a computer and “slaying code.” You approach a couple Continue reading the post...
A bona fide way to pay it forward using the Buy Me a Coffee plus 2 more tools
Do you remember the end of Avengers: Endgame? Of course, you do. There was a defining moment that I remember quite clearly. Our superheroes gathered around. What to at this point when it looked utterly hopeless. Thanos was still wreaking havoc. The conversation had a hint of doubt. It went something like this: Carol Danvers: So let’s get him and use to them to bring everyone back. Bruce Banner: Just like that? Steve Rogers: Yeah. Just like that. Natasha Romanoff: Continue reading the post...
