Three observations about how business are or can make adjustments during the coronavirus pandemic

For many of us in the digital space, the virus outbreak hasn’t made a big difference. It is business as usual for us as we are almost entirely remote.  For others, the situation is direr. Restaurants are being forced to close, some businesses are laying off workers, and the future is uncertain. One thing I have seen locally is the number of people who are stepping up to help the community. I have seen friends offer to run errands for others, giving tips for working remotely (to those suddenly working remotely), offering homeschool help, offering homemade soap products to anyone

How to help your business customers use more digital marketing during the Coronavirus outbreak

No doubt, we’ve hit some kind of global crisis in life and in business. With the emergence of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have seen conferences, sporting events, and large gatherings, in general, to decide to cancel events. Businesses are playing it safe and not spending money. I have heard other business owners talk about how their clients are not spending money during this crisis. Other companies are asking workers to work from home. The COVID-19 has affected our lives and our businesses and, ultimately, the economy.  Wednesday night, I was watching my beloved Razorbacks play in the first round of

3 No-frills tips for writing more engaging content that grabs your reader’s attention like a Wonder Woman movie

I love good hooks as much as the next person. We see them in movies all the time. One of my favorite movies in the past couple of years was Wonder Woman. The film, of course, has Gal Gadot playing Diana, Princess of the Themyscira. I always loved the TV series with Linda Carter. In the movie, the scene pans from earth to modern-day, where Diana is going to her office. At the same time, an armored truck pulls up with Wayne Enterprises on the side. Two men get out, and one delivers a briefcase to Diana. As she opens

Tools Roundup: Keep in touch with clients using appointment scheduling software

In 2019, the social media sharing app Buffer published a report on the state of remote work. Not surprisingly, one of their conclusions is that remote work is not a fad. According to the study, “Of our respondents, 99% said they would like to work remotely at least some of the time for the rest of their careers. This is a notable stat to have discovered; while remote work is sometimes portrayed as a trend, these results seem to infer that this way of working is here to stay. Out of all the data we collected, no response was as

Q&A with Ben Townsend, content creator and host of RaffleWP

I enjoy the ability to meet people online. There is very little like bonding with someone on Twitter or Facebook because of WordPress, content, or love for a sport. The person may be hundreds of miles away or on a different continent, but ultimately we can see how small this world is sometimes. Such is the case with Ben Townsend. I met him on Twitter last year. One thing I really appreciate about Ben, aside from his love for WordPress, is his passion for creating good content. He ran a successful blog, but then recently, he transitioned to RaffleWP. The

Frustration. Have you ever been frustrated by working with clients? They don’t follow your instructions. Maybe they just aren’t technically savvy enough.  Getting feedback can be a struggle. Consider what Vito Peleg told me last year, We tried everything from creating elaborate spreadsheets, long google docs, video tutorials, project management systems and so on. It became clear that the available solutions, while great for our side, were rarely followed by the clients. They were too complex and bloated. Vito set out to solve a problem for his team. Now, WP Feedback is making some bold new changes. We talk about

Increasing engagement with your Facebook posts: 5 tips to help

Trust me when I say this, Facebook posting is an enigma for many of your customers. Some customers don’t use Facebook on their own, so they don’t care. This is a mistake as their customers are already on the platform, regardless the age. Facebook has over 2.5Billion users. They can’t dismiss it. Some customers are disinterested because they don’t use Facebook. Some are believers, and only believers in traditional marketing. Some are afraid to use it, and they will often talk about regulations. Then you have those who try to use Facebook. They try all kinds of things and rarely

Fall in love with taglines that captures the essential part of your company’s message

When I worked for an agency, guess who got to do a lot of pre-launch and post-launch checklists for websites? You guessed it, me. That’s okay; I’m a stickler about getting all the boxes marked; however, over time, I learned others didn’t see the value. Anyway, we had some fairly mundane things to do, like making sure the timezone was correct, adding something for the website title in the settings. Something that would come up regularly was what to put in the tagline. If you didn’t know, the WordPress dashboard has a place in the settings to add a tagline.

Screencasting apps to help capture you expertise like a pro

I’ve been trying to do more videos for my business. One thing I’ve done is launch a Youtube show. In 2019 I experimented with some Facebook lives. Sometimes we just need to be comfortable being in front of the camera. Using video can be a huge help for our business. For example, recording or taking a pic of your screen or desktop can be helpful to our customers. Screencasting is something that benefits them and helps us stand out from everyone else. There are plenty of options for screencasting, and today we are going to look at some of those
