5 things I learned writing 400 articles at MainWP and there is probably a GIF for that

Well, actually, it is 401 articles—more on that in a moment. I happened to notice this week that I had written 400 articles for MainWP. Some might call that a milestone. There are definitely a lot of articles. The MainWP articles have always been there like a good friend who never leaves. Each week, whether I feel like it or not, the article is waiting for me to write. And so I write them. A lot of things have changed in that time. It looks like the first article was in June of 2016, just about five years ago. For

3 tips to improve your sales mindset as an entrepreneur

“Always be closing!”   Those are the words of Alec Baldwin’s character in the 1992 film Glengarry Glen Ross. In the film, his character, Blake, shows up to whip the salesmen in shape to be better salespeople. The promise was that management would fire all but two of the salesmen in a week. Only two will remain, the two with the top two leads and closing. So, the salesmen set off to close the most sales and often used “questionable” tactics. Most people have an image of sales being like these swindlers. People also think of slimy car salesmen. Thus,

The May Toolbox: A little CSS magic, an Instagram Uploader and a brand new WordPress plugin

When I grew up in rural Arkansas, we went fishing a lot, especially when we stayed with my grandpa on his farm for a week. One of the things you absolutely had to have when fishing is a tackle box. In that box, you have necessary things like lures, extra hooks, and more. As digital marketers, we have to have a toolbox. Each month, we take the time to talk about what goes in our tackle box or our toolbox. In today’s May Toolbox, we will look at how to use CSS magic, a new (to me) screencasting app, a

Here are a few summits and WordCamps to attend in the next few months

With the world still dealing with COVID issues, conferences and WordCamps are still going virtual. On the one hand, it allows everyone to attend something they may not have previously. On the other hand, we miss out on the opportunity to go to places like Bolivia, Japan, and Europe. Hopefully, we can begin attending in-person events by 2022. This week, I learned that one conference in the digital space is planning to return to an in-person meeting by November. This may be a good sign for the future. Regardless, we have several conferences and WordCamps coming in the next few

The April Toolbox: We are talking 3D icons and Reddit.

In today’s edition of Toolbox, we will take a look at 3D icons, Reddit Mania, a backlink tool, and a freelance calculator. Additionally, we are going to talk about a little bit of Toolbox news. So sit back and enjoy. 3D icons that will pop 😉 Icons. There are tons of packages out there. Some are free; most are relatively inexpensive. An icon can really help you communicate your idea visually. I recently came across a set that caught my attention. The 3D icons are something I haven’t seen before. To be honest, I can’t tell if they are really

3 Big Ideas to guide your business and marketing

It seems that Wix has recently attempted to launch some kind of campaign. They sent Bose headphones to several WordPress influencers. They used it to give them a QR Code (who uses those anyway?) that takes these influencers (developers) to a video that talks about complaining or something. It was pretty bizarre. Who knows what Wix was trying to accomplish. They seemed to try their hand at influencer marketing with a twist, I guess. Mark that down as one I never heard. WordPress influencers seemed to think they were trying to trash WordPress, so the tactic didn’t land well.
